Open the column editor
Choose a preset or saved template in Workbench, then open Customize columns. Rename, add or remove columns. Use the up and down controls to set the export order. Each column needs a different, nonempty name.
Give a useful instruction
Explain the exact detail you need. For PO Reference, try: Extract the purchase order reference, not the invoice number. Preserve leading zeros. An instruction guides extraction; it does not make a missing fact appear.
Choose a format only when needed
Use Text for IDs and codes, Number for plain amounts, and a date format for unambiguous dates. Use Table for repeated line items and name its columns, for example SKU, Description, Qty, Unit, Unit Price, Amount. Supported limits are 40 top-level columns and 20 columns per table.
Preview before scaling up
Add a representative file and preview it using the shown credits. Check the output beside its source. Changes to columns invalidate an earlier preview; processing the changed setup uses credits again.
Save the version you want to reuse
Give the template a clear name. Save changes updates a selected custom template. Save as copy creates a separate template for another customer. Copying uses a template slot; updating does not create another slot. Already submitted batches keep their original column setup.
Check your result
You're done when…
Your selected template returns the columns in the right order and can be selected again for the next batch.
If something goes wrong
To start from an existing spreadsheet, use Account → Custom template → Template header file with a CSV or XLSX header. Return to Workbench to select and refine it. If no slots remain, update an existing editable template or check your account's plan; do not keep retrying Save as copy.
